Published by New England Comics, Ben Edlund was only 18 years old when he created the concept in 1986 and it still comes up in our conversations today. Who can forget memorable panels like Naked Girls on Crutches?
Phil is an uncanny painter, usually depicting characters in conflict, captured in unusual poses. I was introduced to him through his character "Johnny Badhair" that appeared in issue #33 of Marvel's "Epic Illustrated" from back in December of 1985. In the vast universe of comics there are some who dwarf nearly everyone else in the field. While we're not trying to recount everyone who's been a major player in the history of comics, there are some who have left their mark on us. If you're not already familiar with these names, check them out. They're well worth the time.
